The Mountain Gateway Museum is one of 17 sites in North Carolina that represents the state's history of moonshine and motorsports. Moonshining was a significant part of North Carolina's agriculture and social traditions, while motorsports grew out of 1930s-era moonshine speed racing. DNCR's Moonshine & Motorsports Trail builds pride, supports rural economic development, and serves as a statewide cultural and tourism resource.
